This book is neither a new publication nor is it published in English. Yet, the reason it is chosen for review is its subject matter. This slim booklet of just 86 pages published in Bengali more than three decades ago presents a rare and rewarding glimpse into one of the shining chapters of Islamic history in the Indian sub-continent. It narrates the life of a leading Islamic saint of India: Mawlana Hamid Bangali. The reason that makes the historical biographical story of this sixteenth century luminary worthy of study and attention is his participation alongside the most important reformer of Islam of the second Islamic millennium the Mujaddid Alf Thani (renovator of the second millennium) Shaykh Ahmad Sirhindi (971 AH/1564 CE-1034 AH/ 1624 CE).
