How does a parent, teacher, carer or guardian explain to a child the heartbreaking situation in Palestine and the depths of inhumanity and depravity surrounding this crisis? This is not an easy task and has to be done with sensitivity to allow the child to start to understand the history and context of the conflict. Thoughtful delivery can help educate children about the ongoing oppression and suffering that is being inflicted on the Palestinians without creating fear and anxiety in their young minds. Regrettably, children resident in the obliterated aftermath of Palestine are not afforded such a luxury as sensitivity, for they confront the unabated, unfiltered daily horror and reality of war that will indelibly sear into their psyches for life, should they survive.
